I copied this photograph from the 489th Bomb Squadron Book after noticing
the very interesting list of planes on the "Daily Status Board" for what appears to be the date of August 8, 1944.
I imagine this is the complete squadron plane inventory for that time which was just a week before D-Day
Southern France. This list should be of general interest to
those trying to make lists of aircraft by name, tail letters, and serial numbers. The nice thing about this
list is that the complete serial numbers (4th column) are shown along side the tail markings (3rd column) but
most importantly, the crew chiefs are listed (second column) which makes associating the names of the aircraft
with their tail letters and serial numbers possible. I have no idea what all the other columns refer to. Perhaps
something related to the "health" of the aircraft. Some remarks in the last column indicate flak damage.
