
Copilot Alfred Drury's Fascinating Account of the December 2, 1943 Mission to Chieti






According to Drury, Jake Muirhead was shot down and KIA, John Brisky was shot down and KIA in the Adriatic, Boyd survived being shot down twice- landing in friendly areas,
Delore Monroe was KIA by Flak in flight, and Bob Crowell was shot down, captured and became a POW in Germany.
The following account of the December 2, 1943 mission to Chieti, Italy was reported by the 447th Bombardment Squadron:



The 447th Bomb Squadron Published the above account of the December 2, 1943 mission to Chieti, Italy. The lead ship
from the 448th Squadron was also shot down on this mission. Its crew consisted of Pilot 2nd Lt. G.I. Clark,
Copilot Major J.P. Bates, Bombardier, Captain R.H. Brown, Navigator, 2nd Lt. R.A. Abbe, Engineer, S/Sgt. H.V. Terho,
Radioman-Waist-Gunner S/Sgt. L.F. Henry, and Top-Turret-Gunner S/Sgt. J.W. Paschal.
