Announcing An Anna's Annual Arrivals
2004, Page 2

The first egg hatched on March 17th.

Presumably the egg that was layed on February 29th was the first to hatch so it took about 18 days to incubate.

The baby's primordial wings are just rows of fine threads along its back.

The mother fed her baby with small insects.

We wondered how long it would be before the second egg hatched.

Remarkably, the second egg was hatched the following day on March 18th. We thought the mother may have
broken the egg open but we don't know that.

The mother's color blends amazingly well with the green ferns that surround the nest.

The nest seems very well hidden and protected by the ferns.
